My job is to help you focus, find the right words, get your message out, and interact with the right people. As an independent consultant in marketing communications and PR, I work either directly with an organization or individual, or via an external PR, advertising or marketing agency. My background in marketing communications, PR and advertising includes supervisory and staff positions, working with a wide range of organizations.

Joan Stewart Smith has years of experience skillfully helping people discover their family roots and break through genealogy brick walls. As a highly creative talent, she heads Stewart Communications, an independent consultancy specializing in PR, marketing & communications, social media, and writing. Previously, she was a vice president at a leading high tech PR agency in Los Angeles. Joan holds a B.A. in English and Journalism from San Jose State University and studied in the UCLA Department of Information Studies.
